Former Metro FM legend has passed on.
Radio veteran Grant Shakoane sadly passed away early this morning in hospital. Details surrounding his death are still unknown at this time, however, a close friend of Shakoane's, Tim Modise, headed online to share the news with South Africans who are truly saddened by his death.
Tim Modis revealed that Shakone was in ‘critical condition’ as he described him on Twitter last week as a ‘benign giant’.
“Our friend and elder brother, Radio giant Gentle giant” Grant Shakone is in critical condition in a hospital in Joburg. His wife informed me that he had been in this fight for some time. Support me in praying for his recovery. We love you #GrantShakoane, ”wrote Tim Modis on Twitter.
In the early hours of the morning, Tim Modis tweeted about Shakoane’s death, which fans were mourning.
“I only learned from Wilson Nkosi that iant the Gentle Giant ‘Grant Shakone has passed. Like many of us and his friends, I am saddened by this news. I extend my sympathy to Auntie Albertina and family. I wish you be the strength Modimo a le Fodige #RIPGrantShakoane, ”wrote Tim Modis.
Fans recalled the good times shared on the radio Shakoane’s famous words with his phrase “If this is good, this is Grant”, so popular that it is also included in his Twitter biography.
The head of public diplomacy, Clasen Monila, also took to Twitter to retract the news with a broken-hearted emoji.
